One Headcanon for me please🤲
🥰❤️.
some time post-canon, after Chay's escaped the compound and made up with Kim and started to actually get on with Kinn and ideally Korn is dead, Chay bullies Porsche by giving Kinn gifts.
how is this bullying Porsche? well, for starters Kinn is UNBEARABLY cute about it, Kinn is SO excited he and Chay are BONDING, they are GETTING ALONG, he's getting a GOOD GRADE in in-laws!!!! Porsche loves him, loves Chay, and is so beyond fond for his ridiculous puppy of man. this is not the bullying part.
the bullying part is that Chay gets Kinn exclusively kitsch gifts. like these spreadsheet bedsheets. a tearaway daily calendar full of terrible puns. uncustomized customizable business shirts, like these but he leaves the placeholder text as is:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kinn is unironically DELIGHTED by all of these. he uses and wears all of Chay's gifts with PRIDE. he has and is THE BEST IN-LAW. Porsche is learning he's committed to a DORK (well, he already knew this but. still). he loves that Kinn is happy. he loves that Kinn and Chay are getting along. he also now has to sleep in literal spreadsheets that are a third of Kinn's usual thread count and that Kinn insists doesn't itch him but he's far too restless at night for Porsche to believe him.
Pete: I don't see what the problem is here. just fuck nasty enough you have to throw them out afterwards.
Porsche: do you have ANY idea how good Kinn's cleaners are after all this time?
Pete: cowards talk.
Porsche: ......I hate you.
Pete: *blows kiss into the receiver*

you've written a couple post-canon KimChay fics that I LOVE - cage me in and set me free was one of the first KimChay fics I read, actually, I loved Kim and Porsche's dynamic in it. And then there's Out of the Shadows, which I'd love if you got the inspo to return to at some point (all that tasty, tasty angst!). But we haven't gotten to see how you, personally, would write the actual reconciliation. It's something I struggle with; how do you forgive someone who hurt you and then doubled down? Even if Chay is generous enough to accept and understand Kim's reasoning, how does he trust him after that? What if Kim decides to do something shitty for the greater good again? I'd love to hear your thoughts on that, whether it's general speculation or a bit of insight into the Out of the Shadows arc 👀
AHHH MY FRIEND!!! You're making me feel things ;_;
I do actually plan to come back to Out of the Shadows! Once I finish Technicality, since I've rediscovered the inspo for that, OotS is next on my list!
My personal feelings towards their potential reconciliation have changed a lot in the past year. When I originally watched the show, I had just gone through a really terrible breakup, my first one ever, and I was really sympathetic towards Chay. So I leaned in a little too hard to the "Kim is the worst person ever, how could he break this poor baby's heart."
One of the reasons I stalled on OotS is actually because it was the first longfic I started for this fandom, before I had really been exposed to all the various meta and interpretations, so I didn't have a solid feel for the characters and how I wanted to write them. I reached a point where the characterizations I started with, I no longer really agreed with, and then I had to figure out how to move forward with how I interpret the characters at this point.
Nowadays, I tend to think the reconciliation would go a lot better than you might expect. From what we see in the show, Kim never actually, intentionally seduced Chay. The closest we get to it is that cheek kiss after Chay's confession, but at that point, I think it's reasonable to believe Kim has caught feelings himself. We see multiple times how Kim is actually trying to do the opposite of take advantage: he keeps trying to dismiss Chay and send him away, and Chay chases after him every time. He's a lovestruck kid that doesn't seem to have a healthy idea of boundaries.
I'm also firmly in the camp that Chay knew Kim was sus from the start. he is a terrible liar, not nearly the criminal mastermind that he pretends to be - honestly, I think Kim is a scared kid that gotten in over his head, and is trying to act more confident than he feels.
Which is the crux of my version of their reconciliation. They are both so young. Chay's in high school, Kim is either about to graduate college or just did, putting him at what. 21? 22? That's several younger than me. We have no idea about Kim's dating history, but we can assume based on Chay's... everything that this is his first attempt at a relationship, and it's clumsy. He jumps in with both feet, he confesses being in love before he even knows Kim's full name, let alone anything meaningful about him. And given how Kim is constantly surprised by Chay, I think this is probably his first attempt at a relationship, too. At least one like this.
I tend to meet any given media where it's at, and accept what it's trying to show me. In this case, I've said it before, I'll say it again: KinnPorsche were the action romance with a side of bodyguard + boss/employee, VegasPete was for the dark romance/bodice ripper girlies, and KimChay was meant to be the sweet high school/college romance. It wasn't supposed to be secretly dark and sinister. If anything, it was a coming of age story for Chay; getting his first heartbreak, being faced with the fact that the world isn't as kind as he thought it was (re: the mafia), and having a rebellious teen phase.
ALL OF THAT TO SAY.
At the end of the day, I think Chay is overwhelmed by everything going on in his life, and he can't be mad at Porsche, bc he doesn't have anyone else in his life that he can trust, so he takes all of those feelings of frustration and fear and dumps them at Kim's feet. Kim is easy to be angry at. Kim lied to him, used him, and broke his heart. So Chay is going to dye his hair, start partying with a bad crowd, and cry over the boy he thought he loved not loving him back.
But Chay also loves his brother more than anything. He would do anything for Porsche, even give up their childhood home and move to some small apartment somewhere just so he can be safe, or drop out of school to get a job so he can help with the bills. Everything Kim did, he did to keep his brother safe. And again, Kim never outright tries to make Chay fall in love with him.
Even The Scene at Kim's apartment isn't a huge betrayal to me. I think Chay went running to the one person that's been his rock since Porsche left, needing comfort and reassurance that something in his life is what he thought it was. When he didn't get hat from Kim, he fell apart. And Kim was an asshole in the way he went about it, yes, but he was just. Denying his feelings. He has the right to do that, and it's a pretty common romance trope. He was scared so he pushed Chay away, and it hit Chay so hard because he just lost what he saw as the one good/steady thing in his life, and now he's left adrift in this scary new world. Hell, maybe Chay even went to Kim, now armed with the truth, hoping that Kim could help him navigate life in the mafia, because Porsche certainly isn't doing it. He leaves Chay crying in his room to go out partying with his new family (which is the most heartbreaking scene in the whole show, for me. He did all of this for Chay, but at the very end, he leaves Chay behind)
Anyway. I think that after a little time and distance, all it would really take for Chay to forgive Kim, is just. A conversation. Once Chay realizes that yeah, he was pushy, he did come on strong, and that all the times Kim pulled away from him it wasn't because he was "playing hard to get", but because he didn't know what to do with Chay's intense feelings.
They need to examine how they approach other people (Chay by throwing his everything in at once, and Kim's habit of pulling away). They both have a lot of growing up to do. And I think, at the end of the day, that's what their story is trying to tell us. Heartbreak is just a part of growing up.
ANYWAY. Sorry to word-vomit at you like that. The tl;dr is that I don't think Kim really betrayed Chay, at least not more than any regular coming-of-age breakup story. I think they need to grow up, have some self-reflection, and come back with a better idea of who they are and what they want. After that, who knows what could happen!

Idk if this is a controversial opinion but I low-key hate when people make Kim and his brothers distant but decide Kim is besties with Vegas at the same time
Kim had no problem walking into a random warehouse and immediately shooting at Vegas on sight
Like idc if it's just that Vegas and Kim are friends/friendly but it's when they specifically add that they are friends and Kim hates his brothers/does not interact with them but he kept in touch with Vegas?

So, next installment of Magic, Reflections, and Parallels has a very Emotional Influence Theme. Which derives from one's natural inclination to not be affected by negative energy. A, uh, Psychological Strength kind of thing, meaning a...barrier, or maybe...filter? to not be influenced by negative emotional energies because of being highly logical...
Anyway, someone who has abnormal high Psychological Strength isn't as easily influenced...So, I made a list and I need everyone's opinions that it makes sense.
Psychological Strengths [High to Low]: 1. Pete 2. Vegas 3. Macau 4. Kim 5. Kinn 6. Chay 7. Porsche 8. Khun
Why is Chay higher than Porsche? Because if Porsche got betrayed by Kinn again...I think there might be a fairly more impactful reaction. [There's a lot more to this...but I don't want to reveal too much.]
Spoilers may be in tags, so just beware of that.

🎁 Have a piece of a WIP you want to share?
🥰
More fucked up sad boy Kim! Kim is kissing his brothers bodyguard and thinking about his guitar tutee a completely normal amount.
This next kiss is hungry, a clash of lips and teeth that Big, for his part, doesn’t try to soften.  Good. Kim doesn’t want soft. Chay might let WIK kiss him, but would he let Kim kiss him like this? Would he let Kim pin him to the corridor walls, press their bodies flush, lick whisky into his mouth? Would he arch under the press of Kim's hips? Would it matter that it was Kim, not WIK, that needed holding tighter than this? Would Chay hold him anyway despite it? When Porchay said he liked all sides of him, did he know what he was saying? What he was offering? What he was asking for? He barely knew Kim’s first name.  Would Porchay let him use him like this? Could he drive Kim to distraction? Would he let Kim kiss him and kiss him and kiss him until the adrenaline in Kim's veins felt like golden, heady desire, not distress seeping out of the desperate empty chasm of his chest? Would Chay let Kim corrupt him? Could Kim sit back and watch it happen? There's a small solace in the way that the hands settled softly at his waist have calluses on the trigger finger already. In the way that they were never his hands to corrupt.

i miss you, i'm sorry | jeon jungkook
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
my attempt as a hopeless & unapologetic simpy romantic to write angst, drabble, idol!jk x fem!reader, young lovers to strangers to (?), 854 words, jungkook's home, he needs to see you, he finds you, then he wishes he didn't
now playing: gracie abrams—i miss you, i'm sorry
Tumblr media
"your hair's shorter."
you stand there, to-go coffee cup in hand, fingers fidgeting around the cup as you try to manage a small smile. your head nods slightly, your hair now brushing just past your shoulders, a little lighter than it was the last time you saw him. "yeah," you say, "yours is longer."
jungkook smiles, his own hair pulled back in a neat bun, the glint of his lip ring twisting under his tongue. "it’s nice. i like it. suits you."
your smile stays on your face, though you feel your heart sink. you blink a few times, fighting a losing battle against the emotions stirring inside you. you never could manage that when it came to him. "thanks, jj."
he nods, his stomach twisting at the way the nickname, once so natural and familiar from your lips, now sounds foreign. he hates that he’s the reason for it.
“bub, i—” his voice trails off. not because you interrupt him, at least not with words. but the way your gaze lifts from the coffee cup lid—chai latte, if he remembers right—catching his with the faintest sadness stops him in his tracks. "i hope you’re well, bub."
you nod, unable to manage anything else. you didn’t have time to grab a sleeve for your cup after hearing the nickname called from behind you as you accepted the hot drink. you knew it was him before you even turned around, the nickname striking a deep ache in the pit of your stomach. nobody’s called you that in five years. nobody else ever had, other than him.
the cup’s heat burns into your fingertips, extra hot as usual, the baristas knowing your order by heart now, and your grip tightens around the tray. it’s subtle, but jungkook notices the tension in your posture. he feels sick.
“i am. hope you are too.” your voice is quiet, honest. “didn’t know you were back in town.”
“you would’ve if you answered my calls.” he tries to joke, but it doesn’t land. your eyes blink at his words, a bit longer this time. “sorry, i—that was… fuck, bub, that was so stupid for me to say—”
“all good,” you reply softly, your smile never reaching your eyes. you try, at least. “i better go, jungkook. it was nice seeing you again.”
jungkook swallows, watching as you step around him to exit the cafe, the familiar scent of your flowerbomb perfume dazing his senses. his body reacts instinctively to the comfort of the smell. before he can stop himself, his legs are moving, following it.
he catches the door of the shop just before it closes, stepping out into the chilled busan air. the sensation is both grounding and unsettling, nostalgia washing over him in a heavy wave. he’s always loved how cold it is here. you do too. at least, he thinks you do. he doesn’t know anymore.
“bub, wait, could i just talk to you for a—” he slows as he takes a step forward, his footsteps catching on the pavement.
you’re standing just a few feet away, the door to your car open, looking back at him with a haze in your eyes. sadness, he thinks. could be pity, too.
his focus drifts to the passenger side door, noticing your hand wrapped around its handle. his eyes trail further, to the driver’s seat. he blinks, unsure if he’s seeing things. he isn’t. sitting in the driver’s seat of a tacky matte black audi is kim chanyeol. only then does he notice the other drink in your hand.
“oh, uh, sorry. i’ll, uh… i’ll see you around, y/n.” he swallows hard, the words rough and thick in his throat as he turns back toward waveon coffee.
he doesn’t look back at the sound of his name, though it’s the very thing he’s longed to hear ever since he’d convinced his managers to give him a week off during their busiest season, just so he could visit his hometown. he’s doing so well. his career is taking off, just like you said it would. you’d always wanted him to succeed, always believed he would. and now he’s made it. but at what cost, bub?
without thinking, he steps away from the cafe, barely remembering why he even came here. he didn’t want anything, not really. he’d only stopped by because when he visited your house, your mom said you weren’t home, and she wasn’t sure where you might be. he checked every one of your old favorite places in the city, wondering if they were still favorites at all. he had to try.
“jj, wait—” he doesn’t stop. he keeps walking down the busy busan footpath, not sure where he’s even going. there’s nowhere for him to go anymore; his family having moved to seoul as soon as he made it big. he paid for it, bought them a house, covered their travel expenses. he’d even offered the same for you, your family too. told you he’d do anything.
you never responded to those offers.
and he understands. he wouldn’t have responded, either. he’d promised he’d never truly leave you.
and then he did.
Tumblr media
pov you read this back and realized that you didn’t take into account him being a world famous idol back in the hometown that literally treasures him above all else… so just imagine he gets jumped on by a crazy fan as he walks down the footpath or smth, he deserves it xx

month 13: more than memory | barista!kim seungmin x psych major!reader
author's note: i just needed to create another fic within my procedural memory universe (and be a psychology nerd). also i finally started a taglist !! please send me an ask if you'd like to be added xx
Tumblr media
The windowpane you sat by was frosted and cold, but the cafe was warm, especially the particularly cosy corner you’d always sneak yourself into. It was right by the heater, a soft blue coloured sofa with a low mahogany table in front of you. The cafe walls were dark green, and the space was dimly lit, inviting and familiar. For the past few months, you’d brought in a book to read, and would lounge on the sofa as if it was your own apartment, sporadically receiving honey chai in miniature teapots and oat matcha lattes from your sweet boyfriend, Seungmin. Other days, you’d sit yourself at a table near the barista counter, and he would test out new coffee blends and teas, giving you little samples and asking for your advice.
However, today was not a day for reading or tea-tasting. Your university had started back up a few weeks ago, and somehow you had been lucky enough to receive an assignment due by the end of the week. Which, you’d just realised upon waking up, was tonight.
Throwing on a navy cable knit sweater and knotting a pale pink scarf around your neck, you’d sprinted, or rather stumbled, out of your apartment in your uggs after Seungmin, who was heading out to open up the cafe.
“It’s 7:30,” Seungmin had said to you, quickly reaching forward to catch your laptop before it slipped out of your grasp as you locked the door.
“I know. I have to get an essay done by tonight, so I’m heading into the office with you,” you replied, tucking your hair behind your ears and taking a quick breath to regain your composure.
Seungmin smiled. “And by office, you mean the blue sofa in my cafe?”
“You know I do, baby.”
The two of you walked along the route he always took to the cafe, fingers entwined. As per usual, Seungmin paused to pet every dog you met along the way, asking for names, ages, breed types and temperaments as he scratched ear after furry ear. As per usual, you would take a moment to glance into the little vintage store adjacent to the cafe, seeing if there was anything new in the window.
As Seungmin began setting up the coffee machine for the day, you set up chairs, wiped tables and turned on lights. Felix, Seungmin’s best friend, stopped by to drop off the day’s delivery of pastries and cakes, and you helped him set them up in the little glass cabinet on the benchtop. Once everything was done, you and Seungmin took turns taking bites of an almond croissant, and you left him to serve his first customer with a kiss on the lips and a mug of hot chocolate.
With a stretch of your wrists and a deep breath, you put on your glasses and sat yourself down, periodically taking sips from your hot chocolate as you formulated research, cited sources and structured paragraphs. At ten-forty-five, he made you an iced latte with the vanilla flavoured oat milk he kept specifically for you, leaning down to meet your eyes and giving you a smile. At half past twelve, Seungmin brought you a sandwich from the deli next door and a chamomile tea, giving you a quick kiss on the forehead and rubbing your shoulders. At quarter past two, he swapped your plate and empty cup for a strawberry matcha latte, and you wrapped an arm around his waist, leaning into his chest for a moment as you took a breather.
“Don’t work yourself too hard, yeah?” he said, more like a statement than a question.
“I promise,” you replied, kissing him lightly on the lips before resuming your work.
At three, when he shut off the coffee machine, he heard you sigh in relief and close your laptop, and turned around to see you stretch your shoulders and slide down the sofa. He approached you slowly, then threw himself onto you, wrapping his arms around your waist and shoving his face in your shoulder as you giggled.
“You big baby,” you chuckled, running a hand through his hair and sitting up, resting your head on his shoulder as he wrapped an arm around you.
“Since when is it illegal for a guy to be proud of his girlfriend for smashing out an essay in a day?” he huffed, but leaned in closer. “What was it about?”
“A comparative analysis of two contemporary studies on the psychological process of memory,” you replied. “A lot of work, but it was really interesting. The whole concept is so fascinating.”
“Yeah? Tell me about it.” The same way you loved watching Seungmin make coffee, the love in his eyes and the subtle confidence in his work, he loved to listen to you talk about your study; there was something captivating about you in your element, so passionate about what you were learning and writing about.
“Basically, the whole point I covered was implicit memory. The kind of stuff that we don’t consciously retrieve, it just comes back involuntarily. Like muscle memory and emotions. It’s so cool, and it’s so interesting when I can see it in real life. Like how now, you don’t even have to do the measurements properly when you make me a strawberry matcha, because it’s just natural. And like how I still get butterflies when I come here, because it’s where we first met. It’s honestly so beautiful.”
You loved the explanation behind normal human nature; learning why and how we did things, what made us who we are. How this complex little process occurring deep within your brains made up your love for each other.
“That really is.”
“Yeah. I really hope my amygdala keeps encoding the feelings I have when I’m around you,” you smiled up at him.
“I sure as fuck hope my basal ganglia doesn’t let me down someday and I forget how to make your strawberry matchas. I don’t think you’d forgive me.”
“It’s okay, because if my neocortex somehow loses the information, I won’t remember it even happened,” you giggled. “And how did you know that?”
“I know you. You think I don’t read your notes and your essays? It’s so interesting, especially seeing it all from your eyes and reading all of your raw thoughts.” he replied casually, although his cheeks tinged pink. “I hope that’s not like, an invasion of your privacy. But whenever I see your notebooks out with all your little diagrams and comments, I just want to see what’s going on in your head. And know what you’re talking about half the time.”
You squealed and stood up, shifting yourself onto his lap and pressing your forehead to his. “Kim Seungmin, you are the love of my life.”
“Even when your hippocampus starts to deteriorate with age and you forget our old memories together?” he asked, eyes sparkling.
“Even when,” you confirmed. “Although I hope it never does.”
“Me neither.”
You brought your lips to his.

i think the reason why i find the idea of kim writing Why Don't You Stay for chay so compelling is because its the one thing in their relationship that was wholly and completely theirs.
every other interaction is tainted by the fact that chay will always wonder if kim was there because of chay's connection with porsche. but their first meeting was a coincidence, and the actual process of making music together had nothing to do with kim's investigation. if anything, it's the best evidence that chay meant something to kim. everything else - every time kim showed an interest in chay's past, background, family traditions, thoughts and feelings - is suspect, but the actual act of making music together, and their shared love of composing and writing, is just theirs.
and it's chay's kim who's a part of this. not kim theerapanyakul - not the hunter in the shadows, forged by his father into being the perfect enforcer. this is the part of kim that he's fought for years to keep for himself. not quite wik, the public persona that smiles winningly at his fans, but still kinder and sweeter and more open than anything the 3rd theerapanyakul son could be.
which is why when kim realises that nothing he can do is going to disentangle chay from the theerapanyakul family (not when kinn and porsche are together now), when he realises that he's broken chay's heart for nothing (because even without kim's involvement, chay is now a viable tool for his father's manipulations), he writes.
because this was the only way chay's kim ever spoke to him.

I just... I just love Chay so much. Just as a character he's so appealing. Everything about him, pre-breakup und post-breakup. Like yeah, He seems kinda innocent and everything did y'all notice that he has absolutely no chill?
Like, the guy meets his idol after proving that he pretty obsessively watches his music videos (he probably knows them better than Kim himself at this point) and gets to ask for something from him and what does he ask for? Tutoring lessons! Idk about anybody else but the way Chay is always so forward and just does not hold back at all is so funny to me.
When he told Kim that he loved him, I expected Chay to say "You don't have to answer me right now" or "You don't have to say anything, I just wanted you to know". But no. He straight up asks "Do you love me too?"
He dyes his hair after a breakup and goes drinking with friends? He truly is one of us, isn't he?
Okay I'm done.

Kim sighed as he looked over his emails, he had been home for 30 minutes and it was still just work, work and more work.
He really needed to hire a manager. Well, he actually had a manager but Kim was too much of a control freak to let someone else have complete control over his scheduling, his manager did some of the busy work but Kim always looked over all the final details to make sure everything was in order. He had a tour coming up and so he'd been extremely busy the last few days ensuring everything was right.
Just as Kim was finishing up replying to the emails his phone lit up with a notification.
Sunshine is live
Kim looked at the clock confused for a second: 9:30pm thursday.
Sunshine didn't stream on thursdays. He had a pretty strict schedule and if he ever deviated there would be some prior announcement, but Kim wasn’t going to question an extra moment to watch his favourite streamer.
He was  quick to open his other laptop (he had one for purely work related things and another for personal things) and pulled up the stream.
Sunshine was smiling at the camera welcoming people as they joined, he was too close to the camera to see anything about him besides his half masked face.
There was low music playing in the background but too quiet to make out.
"Ah, I know it's unusual for me to stream off schedule, but I felt like doing a surprise stream for you guys tonight, you aren't mad at me are you?"
Sunshine bites his lip and gives his best puppy dog eyes. No, Kim thinks, he didn't think he could be mad at Sunshine if he tried.
Someone asked if he would still stream tomorrow or if the surprise stream was cause he couldn’t stream tomorrow.
"I promise there will still be a stream tomorrow as well, same time as always." Sunshine winks with a laugh before looking back at the chat.
The comments were happy that they would still get a stream tomorrow and an extra today.
Sunshine keeps reading through the chat, his smile not leaving his face. Whatever caused him to do a surprise stream must have been really good.
“So… I got something really special today. There's this singer I really like,” Kim watches as Sunshine slowly moves away from the camera, and Kim's eyes widen and his mouth falls open.
Sunshine was wearing a very familiar shirt. A shirt Kim had had a hand in designing, but it wasn’t just the shirt that had surprised him, no, what had caught his attention was the giant signature across the front of the shirt.
W I K
"There's this singer I really like, I don't know if any of you know him," Sunshine spoke, Kim's brain unable to move past his signature being displayed,"He had an event today and it was the first time I was able to attend one of his events, he even signed the shirt!”
Kim had signed Sunshines shirt? Had been in the same room as him? He had met Sunshine? “Thinking about how he touched this shirt makes me happy.” Sunshine continued,”Really happy. So happy I thought I should share it with you guys. This stream will be a little different from my normal ones, I won't be taking chat requests,” Sunshine laughs adorably for a second,”Honestly this stream is more for me than you guys, I hope you guys won't mind?”
The chat was filled with people encouraging Sunshine to go on, after all a big part of his draw was how he shared details of his life even while he kept his identity hidden behind a mask. There were people who would watch Sunshine as if he was just a regular streamer and not a cam boy.
Sunshines hand slowly crept up his body to where the signature was written, his fingers caressing the shirt where it bears the signature, the bold lines that make up the three letters, and then he starts to rub over the signature where his nipple was hidden underneath and lets out a soft gasp. Sunshine often talked about how sensitive his nipples were.
“I’m glad you all are happy for me.” Sunshine smiles sweetly at the camera, Kim was still combing through his mind trying to come up with any of his fans faces that might have resembled Sunshine.
“WIK was really cool today, his voice always gets me hot and bothered.” Sunshine said, his hand slowly moving down to his bulge, hidden by only some black boxer shorts,”I love when he hits those high notes.” Sunshine pauses his story for a second and tilts his head to the side, a sheepish grin spreads across his face,”Do you think he would sound like that in bed?”
The chat starts to move rapidly, but Kim couldn't take his eyes off of Sunshine as he let out a whine.
Cam boy Chay AU where he wears a mask but hes well know for his happy personality and even if he covers his face he talks about himself a lot.
Cue Kim who had been stressed from working everyday, his schedule usually left him with only 1 to 2 free days where he really got to relax. He doesn't want to use Kinns escort service so he uses the internet and finds a cute cam boy who was so endearing and earnest when he spoke about himself that kim felt enamored by him
Anyway one day Chay does an unscheduled stream and kim is losing his mind cause his favourtie cam boy is wearing WIK merch and keeps talking about how he saw WIK live
and how had Kim not recognized him??? He had had to sign the shirt!

One of the many things about Kim that sticks out to me in the show is the fact that he's not actually introduced to the audience as the love interest for Chay right away. Like, it wasn't a full introduction like how we see with Kinn or Vegas, where we were able to see their faces and some semblance of their personalities off the bat, yknow?
Nah, Kim was introduced in parts: first as a random name drop Pete says in passing when he's explaining who the three brothers are, then as a silhouette, then as WIK, then the reveal that WIK and Kim are the same person.
The audience is introduced to him in "proper" order; we get an idea of how most people probably see him (somewhat as an afterthought, but considered Not As Normal as Kinn, haha), all the way to how his own family treats him: Korn acts fatherly enough, but is suspicious of him. Tankhun is at ease with him and wants him to move back home, and Kinn sometimes forget he has a younger brother because of his absence.
I've mentioned before in a previous rant that it's actually much easier for the audience to see how Kim fell in love with Chay, rather than the other way around, but now I can't help but also ask myself:
I wonder why it is that BOC decided to show more of Kim regarding who he truly is (at the very least, as a member of the mafia) to the audience, rather than to his love interest?
Why did Chay get to see more of WIK, but the audience saw more of Kim? One would think it should perhaps be the other way around, right? Is the audience supposed to see Chay as some sort of vessel to self-insert themselves into?? Lol
And before I go any further, I’m not saying that what Chay saw of Kim was entirely false. Not at all. It’s not as if Kim wasn’t genuine when he was with Chay; at least when it came to his enjoyment of spending time with Chay, for the most part, he probably was—if the Polaroids were anything to go by.
And yet, we barely see them together during the Polaroids Era, as I call it. What Chay sees of Kim during their time together is purposefully kept elusive, from both Porsche and the audience.
And when Chay confronted him in front of his apartment, what we see of Kim isn’t entirely correct from either the audience’s perspective, or Chay’s. We know Kim has felt some measure of guilt in keeping the truth from Chay, we see it multiple times in the show.
And yet, despite that confrontation, Kim still keeps the facade on—he doesn’t admit his guilt, but rather creates the narrative that he never cared at all. For the audience, this shouldn’t come as too much of a shock, as we know Kim is capable of lying on the spur of the moment.
But Chay isn’t aware of that, not until Tankhun unintentionally gives Kim's deception away, in any case.
Getting back to the original question, however: why is Kim shown more of who he truly is to the audience, more so than to Chay? Why is Chay's perception of who Kim is (at least 3/4 of the way into the story) so different from the audience's own?
And I would answer that as: the audience knows more of who Kim is, in order to demonstrate how he stands on equal footing with Kinn and Vegas.
When you compare Kim to Kinn and Vegas, it's not obvious right away as to what makes Kim dangerous. Kinn is dangerous, because of his distrust of most people around him and all that that entails, as well as his position within the mafia itself as the heir; we see this throughout the majority of the first half of the show through Porsche's eyes. Vegas is dangerous, because of his capriciousness, his willingness to do anything to further the agenda of his father, his own, and the Minor family.
But what about Kim?
Kim is dangerous, because of his natural ease with committing deception—but more than that, the extent to which he can keep the lies going, how difficult it can be to understand his intentions because of that. That is what makes him stand on an even pedestal along with Kinn and Vegas. Not only is Kim introduced to the audience and to Chay in parts, even what he's capable of is also shown in bits and pieces; it's no accident that Kim's fighting ability and preferences for combat isn't shown until literally the last episode.
And even when he wasn't necessarily trying to hide from Chay, it's astounding that even the simple act of him walking away as soon as he was done killing off the goons in the bar, is yet another lie he imposes on Chay. How is that a lie, one might ask?
In the end, Chay is not aware of who killed those goons and who protected him.
See what I mean? XD Kim is a natural liar, even all the way to the end! LOL Sure, we can argue that Chay would have probably figured it out on his own down the line, but at the end of the day, that's not what's shown in the aftermath of that fight.
While I would argue that Kim is no strategist, he is a good liar, if nothing else. In fact, I would even go so far as to say that Kim is the epitome of a wolf in sheep's clothing in KPTS, and I will stand on that hill 'til my dying breath!
I used to think I would have loved to have seen more of the Polaroid era in the hopes of having gotten more Kimchay scenes, but now—I've changed my mind~ I'm actually quite satisfied that they didn't show us! I'm happy they didn't—because it allows for Kim's character and the audience's impression of him within the world of the mafia—to stand stronger, to really drive home the fact that he's not one to be underestimated, that no matter his gentleness to Chay, his love for Chay, Kim is a product of his environment—of the mafia.
And what perfect way to show that, other than by showing the audience more of the truth, rather than what Chay knows in the show.

Something I think about a lot is like. Messy boy chay and fastidious kim
Chay who doesn't mind the lube and come drying on him, vs kim who can only stand it in certain parts of his body (fingers, maybe calves) for the smallest amount of time
They will do all the aftercare cuddles after they clean up. And kim doesn't care if Chay stays messy, but kim needs to get the lube off his hands before it dries under his nails and makes it's way into his hair from moving it out of the way
And chay loves it he's used to having shitty water pressure and cold water showers and tiny showers so he loves and gets into all the lil ways of cleaning in luxury
Post sex shower rinses with the massaging shower head, or maybe it is one you can pull off the spout
So many shower cuddles. That's their aftercare: cuddles and warm water.
Kim washing over chay, feeling him getting hard but not teasing him, and chay sighs and leans more weight onto kim, relaxing into him Unhurried
They have two master bedrooms because they sleep in whatever bed they didn't have messy sex in and clean up in the morning.
drying their hair, Still naked, maybe chay in Kim's lap, just flushed clean skin on skin,no heat or intent behind it however their dicks react trying to fill up
Chay trying to put lil braids in Kim's hair but can't because he's never braided hair so he's just tangling and untangling it while they laugh.
Sleepy and clean under the blankets, nose to nose.
just, chay not caring about dirty and mess and stuff because he's in survival mode. and kim being the one to show him self care and how to take care of things not because he can't replace them (if something breaks you fix it until you can't, if something isn't perfect that's fine so long as it's useable), but taking care of things because they are absolutely worth cherishing.
Kim takes care of things. His weapons his guitars his brothers his body his home of course he'd take care of chay
